“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken.”
Bravo Theatre Company is delighted to present its next production, Willy Russell’s play Blood Brothers. The usual mix of new faces and and established talent has produced a unique and exciting interpretation for all.
Newly single mother Mrs Johnston finds herself pregnant again. Knowing she can’t afford to raise twins, she decides to give one to her employer Mrs Lyons. Having suffered heartbreak at being unable to have children, middle-class Mrs Lyons sets her heart on having the child, viewing it as the cure for her anxiety. Mrs Johnston keeps Mickey and Mrs Lyons takes Eddie.
Seven years later, having been raised on opposite sides of the class divide, Mickey and Eddie meet by chance and quickly become friends. They find they share the same birthday and seal the deal by becoming blood brothers and promising to stand by each other. Learning the brothers have met, both mothers are concerned; however Mrs Johnston has enough to worry about with her other kids but Mrs Lyons begins a slow descent, fearing for her only son whom she has given her life to protect.
