Moments of Expulsion.
Civilisation is dying in Aleppo, a city overflowing with despair
Solo exhibition at The Old Courts by artist Jo Scorah centred on the collapse of Syria.

Jo Scorah’s work reflects the multiple layers of exile that imparts a loss of cohesion, with no sense of belonging.

Jo Scorah is a practicing artist whose work references conflict and exile in both sculptural and linear form, taking its essence from tactile materials juxtaposed with harsh war torn elements. Jo is a Mancunian with roots in Aleppo, giving this subject matter personal resonance. Such a compelling tragic situation means that engaging with as wide an audience as possible will help towards a better public understanding, and raise awareness of the experiences of refugees.

The exhibition will be open throughout February:
10-4pm, Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

Watch out for our panel discussion, ‘A Sense of Belonging.’
Panel made up of professionals and refugee/asylum seekers. Audience participation with questions being put forward on issues relating to the trauma of forced migration, feelings of vulnerability, and how to fit into British culture. Emphasis will be placed on emotional rather than political stance.
