Peaceful Walk and Picnic Protest

Sunday, 9th June @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

Announcement:
Haigh Hall Peaceful Walk and Picnic Protest. Sunday June 9th 2019

Please wear a yellow ribbon as a sign of solidarity, of hope and as a symbol of democracy.

We feel the time has come to show our strength of feelings against the attempts by Contessa Hotels, in collusion with Wigan Council, to restrict our rights to unfettered access within the grounds of Haigh Hall.

We are not happy with the recent attempts, over the Easter weekend, to move us off our lawns in front of the Hall, where we have picnicked for generations, and over to a new picnic area, which has been created without any consultation with the public, to a site which is well away from the Hall, and is out of sight, close to the unsafe peasants path.

We will be accompanied by The True Levellers Wigan Samba Band, and hopefully by some of our elected councillors to show their support of our campaign on the day.

So pencil the date in your diary, pack a picnic and join us.
