Joann Fletcher – Ancient Egypt talks

An acclaimed Egyptologist and TV presenter will deliver two talks at the Museum of Wigan Life on Saturday, August 6.
Professor Joann Fletcher will present two talks:
⭐The first is a family-friendly talk suitable for adults and children aged 11 plus, and will focus on the sport of ancient Egypt. Jo will explore the wide range of sports ancient Egyptians took part in throughout their 3,000-year history – which ranges from chariot racing and ball games to running and swimming.
⭐ The second talk will explore the ‘Golden Faces of Tutankhamen’s dynasty’ – which holds a special significance as it takes place in the centenary year of the discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb. The talk will focus on some of ancient Egypt’s best known golden masks, including that of Tutankhamen and Wigan’s own golden lady that sits proudly on display in the museum.
The talks will take place on Saturday, August 6 and booking is essential.
The first talk (suitable for ages 11+), ‘The Sport of Ancient Egypt’ begins at 1.30pm and costs £5.
The second talk (suitable for ages 16+), ‘The Golden Faces of Tutankhamen’s Dynasty’ begins at 4pm and costs £10 which includes a glass of wine or juice.
