This year we’re celebrating the 10th anniversary of our annual Memory Walks in support of the Alzheimer’s Society. This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever and with your help we can raise invaluable funds and awareness for an important cause.
Getting involved:
The Memory Walk is FREE to join. You can register to take part online or in person on the day.
Everybody who registers in advance will be guaranteed a certificate of completion to be collected on the day of the walk.
There will be two walks for you to choose from: A short accessible walk around the Walled Gardens (approx. 20 mins) A 5km/3 mile walk around Haigh Woodland Park (approx. 45-60 mins)
Whichever you choose, the emphasis is on fun, having a friendly chat and enjoying ourselves in our beautiful green spaces – as well as bringing people together as a community to raise awareness and funds.
Can’t make it? We also have a second Memory Walk at Pennington Hall Park, Leigh on Friday 29 September (11am).
What is the Memory Walk?:
There are more than 940,000 people living with dementia in the UK and we can all do our bit to help.
The idea of the Wigan Borough Memory Walk is to bring people together as a community to raise awareness and funds – with every penny donated to the Alzheimer’s Society.
It’s also an opportunity for those whose lives have been touched by dementia to share happy memories of friends and loved ones who may no longer be with us.
