Standishh Christmas markets are back for 2023, bigger and better than ever! Here’s a quick rundown of the highlights of the day.

As always, the Friends of Standish Library have arranged for the big man to come and check in with some of Standish’s lucky kids in his Grotto in the library. Unfortunately time slots are sold out and it’s strictly ticket only – he’s a busy guy. However, there’s loads of other kids entertainment in the library too, so if you’re hiding from the cold, waiting to see Santa or just want to see what’s going on, it’s a great place to be.
The stage will no doubt be one of the main attractions of the day, and here’s the full line up for this year. With our three primary school choirs kicking us off from 11am, followed by 8 hours of bands, artists and a special guest appearance by Andy and Raf, the Bake Off: The Professionals finalists from Harwoods Patisserie (the shop is also open on the day). To close we have Pie-verotti, aka Neil Dunlop bringing some fantastic festive bangers!
Cross Street Arts will be exhibiting some of their artist’s work, holding an open studio event and also selling their work at their stall on Cross Street too.
Make your way to Standish Methodist Church at noon and you can see the Prospect Garage Brass Band bringing some traditional Christmas music to the church steps, then head inside to discover what’s in their two craft halls.
And since it’s Christmas, it’s not all about mulled wine, music and shopping yourself into a coma. The Brick will be returning after the success of last year’s collection at Standish Christmas Market. There’s plenty going on at the Standish Methodist Church! As well as the two craft halls inside, refreshments and the Prospect Band performance at noon, there’s something a bit different from 1pm with the Wigan Rock Choir belting out some classics. Also on the carpark will be the returning family favourite, the living Nativity from Allday’s Farm – The Country Learning Farm.
Meanwhile, on the library lawn on Cross Street you’ll find more live music from two brilliant northwest talents – Erika Ignata Music and @aidan_egerton_music to keep you entertained while you shop and make the most of the Snowglobe.

On the St Wilfrid’s parish hall carpark, you’ll find the stage and drinks marquees, with this year’s bars operated once again by Kev and Co at the Albion Ale House Micropub, the Standish Voice mulled wine and prosecco bar and newcomers The Furlong Mobile Bar.
