We\u2019re delighted to welcome Eddi Reader to The Old Courts Theatre, with support from Jill Jackson. Eddi Reader is perhaps Scotland\u2019s greatest living female voice.<\/p>\n
In 2021, she celebrated her 40th year on stage with a \u201840 Years Live\u2019 concert tour, her performances just get better and better. From her earliest years playing the folk clubs of western Scotland and learning how to street sing across Europe (like her hero Edith Piaf) Eddi\u2019s path soon lead her to a professional career in music as a backing singer for Eurythmics and Gang of Four.<\/p>\n
Her band Fairground Attraction had huge international success and number one hits with \u2018Perfect\u2019 and debut album \u2018First of a Million Kisses\u2019 which stormed the charts in the late 1980\u2019s. Throughout her successful solo career, Eddi has released consistently great works, including highly acclaimed albums such as \u2018The Songs of Robert Burns\u2019 and last years \u2018Cavalier\u2019. She has won Brit Awards, been awarded four honorary degrees, an MBE, sung to millions on some of the world\u2019s greatest concert and festival stages and collaborated with a host of stars across a myriad of genres including Folk, Jazz, Pop, World, Punk and even Classical work with various orchestras.<\/p>\n
In 2019 Eddi was invited to be a special guest with Jools Holland\u2019s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra for an extensive tour, she released her \u2018Starlight\u2019 EP, played sold out headline shows and recorded a programme for BBC Radios \u2018Classic Scottish Album series about her Robert Burns recordings and appeared on BBC Television\u2019s Songs of Praise and as part of Billy Connolly\u2019s \u2018Made In Scotland\u2019 series.<\/p>\n
Support on the night comes from singer-songwriter Jill Jackson. Having previously worked and toured with artists including Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, and Runrig, Jill releases her newest studio album \u2018Yours Aye\u2019 on the back of her critically acclaimed album \u2018Are We There Yet?\u2019<\/p>\n
